Alyssa & Jason’s Beacon Hill Engagement Session
Alyssa and Jason knew exactly where they wanted to start their Beacon Hill engagement photos.
They met at a bar. So starting their session at one felt right. We showed up early on a Saturday afternoon in January at 89 Charles, got a few shots in the speak-easy vibe with their dog nearby, and everything worked. This wasn’t about finding a pretty location. It was about capturing the two of them in places that mattered to their story.
From there, we moved to Acorn Street. The light was starting to soften, late afternoon, fewer tourists. Narrow cobblestones, brick rowhouses, gas lights coming on. Alyssa and Jason walked together while we followed. We don’t do forced poses, just them being them.

Cobblestones, Gas Lights, and January Light
The location becomes the backdrop. The light, the architecture, the cobblestones. They all set the tone. But the real content is you two, feeling natural in a neighborhood you actually care about.
The Boston Public Garden works as a second space. From close, narrow streets to open space and natural light. There’s a Victorian bridge. The lagoon is quiet. You get variety within one session: candid walking shots, close moments, light on faces.
Planning a Beacon Hill Engagement Session
Timing: Late afternoon is best. Start around 2:30 or 3:00 PM in winter, aim to finish by sunset. The narrow Beacon Hill streets create natural shade. By the time you reach the Public Garden, you’re hitting that golden hour window.
What to wear: Something that feels like you, but a little more dressed up. Alyssa wore an ivory dress then dark jeans for Beacon Hill, which photographed beautifully against the brick.
Logistics: No permit needed for Beacon Hill streets. Parking can be tight, so we use Boston Common Garage if needed. January and February are quieter if you want fewer tourists.
Including your dog: Bring them if they’re part of your story. We’ll work around them.
From Narrow Streets to Open Garden
We’ll spend an hour moving through Beacon Hill, then transition to the Public Garden. We guide gently. Suggestions about where to walk, when to hold hands, moments to just be together.
You’re walking naturally and we’re there capturing what’s real. The cobblestones. The brick. The way January light hits rowhouse facades. Your hands together.
An engagement session isn’t just practice for your wedding. It’s a chance to be photographed in a place you love, without the wedding day pressure. Beacon Hill does that. But really, it’s you two doing that. The location supports what’s already there between you.
If you’re thinking about engagement photos in Boston, we’d love to hear your story.
