Brooklyn Engagement Party Photos

Engaged couple celebrating with waterfront NYC skyline engagement photography

Galit & Ari’s Williamsburg Celebration

Galit and Ari asked if we’d shoot their Brooklyn engagement party a few weeks before the wedding.

Yes. Always yes to this.

Engagement parties aren’t just another line item on the timeline. They’re one of those rare moments where you gather everyone who matters. Families, old friends, people from different chapters of your life, all in one room to celebrate that you’re getting married.

That deserves better than phone photos.

This particular party happened at Domino Park and Sauced Brooklyn in Williamsburg on a summer day with overcast light. Soft. Even. No harsh shadows.

Before the party, we spent 15 minutes at Domino Park for portraits. The Williamsburg Bridge stretches behind you there. East River below. Manhattan skyline in the distance. That combination of water, bridge, and city makes the location work for portraits.

Galit wore a white satin two-piece, crop top and matching midi skirt. Ari wore an untucked striped button-down and dark trousers. They looked good without overdoing it. Not formal, not casual. That in-between that works for both waterfront portraits and a backyard party.

We got classic portraits. Walking shots. One we loved: them walking hand-in-hand on a crosswalk, striped lines behind them.

Inside Sauced Brooklyn

From there, we walked six minutes to Sauced Brooklyn. The venue has exposed beams and weathered brick. The real star is the back garden. Wooden slats, greenery overhead, bistro lights strung between trees.

Once inside, we documented without intruding. Galit laughing. Friends huddled in the garden. Guests arriving. Champagne being poured. Light coming through the trees as the day shifted from afternoon to evening.

We made sure to catch the family photo they’d missed when they actually got engaged. Everyone together. Both families. That photograph matters.

Most of the party shots were in black and white. Black and white keeps your eye on expressions, gestures, the actual emotion. Photos like that feel timeless. You see faces. You see moments.

Domino Park to Sauced Brooklyn

The two locations are close enough that you’re not running late to your own party. Far enough that you feel like you moved through the neighborhood.

The waterfront gave us clean skyline and structured backgrounds. The party feels real. Candid laughter, glasses clinking, friends celebrating. You get both.

Holding What Memory Alone Can’t

The party itself moves fast. People arrive, embrace, grab drinks, stand around laughing, then leave. If it’s not photographed, it’s gone. You have the memory, but without photos, that’s all you have. Photographing your engagement party gives you something to hold onto.

That’s what photographs do. They hold what memory alone can’t.

If you’re planning a celebration in Brooklyn and want it documented the way it actually felt, we’d love to hear about it.
